Well this has certainly been my experience; which is why I started NGOYA children’s clothing. In fact, it was my 2 year old son Apollo who got me started. He is the true inspiration behind NGOYA children’s clothing. You see, as a mother I realised that Apollo, like most children, is a bright, fun loving soul, full of life and adventure. He is unique, just like all children are. This is one of the things that I most love about him and I wanted to find clothes that reflected his gorgeous, playful nature. But when I looked I found nothing that suited him. The commercial mass produced garments were just so lifeless. They were either dull pastels, or clichéd colours that did not suit his unique little personality at all. Sure there were the licensed prints for his favourite TV character or super hero, but nothing that really made a statement about who he is. Nothing that screamed “This is me”
NGOYA IS BORN So after many months of fruitless searching I decided it was time to make my own garments for Apollo. I was amazed at just how popular these garments were. I could barely walk down the street without people commenting on how good he looked and asking me where they could buy these clothes for their children. After so many requests I finally decided to take the plunge and start my own clothing label. I decided to start NGOYA.
MY JOURNEY I was born and raised in Africa, although I have lived in Australia for the past 20 years. I have always had a passion for clothing and fashion in general, which was inspired by my maman. In creating NGOYA I did not simply want it to be another average children’s label. I wanted to create an evolution in children garment that will scream individuality with attitude and culture. My choice of fabric is dynamic, colourful and vibrant, just like a child. They are hard wearing and can withstand vigorous washing, making them perfect for playful children. NGOYA clothing is predominately cotton and usually embodied with a great variety of prints that will awaken your senses. Our garments are Australian made and our print selections are supplied in a limited run. This makes the garments original, holding true to this labels authenticity. NGOYA clothing is beautiful to wear, soft and gentle against the skin, which is important given that our ranges cover boys and girls clothing from 6 months up to 12 years of age. In fact NGOYA clothing is so beautiful to wear that we have even had requests for mamas & papas (adults) range, which is now released. NGOYA clothing is not seasonal; it is perfect to wear all year round. Our garments are experimental and exciting: Fusing attitude and culture. They hold a sense of confidence that will take your child from the playground to any formal occasion. NGOYA children ‘s clothing are an intimate mélange of culture and passion with beauty and quality, threaded into each garment with my caring vision of a sense of reassurance which will help translate into your own amazing child’s tale of self discovery.
